N.S. Pawliuk completed a 900mm x 750mm steel hot tap on a potable water main in Regina, Saskatchewan during the 2024 construction season.
Materials Selection

Tapping Sleeve: Romac FTS445 weld-on tapping sleeve protected with "Romacoat" NSF-61 fusion bonded epoxy. Class E flange.

Valve: Clow F6102 bevel gear resilient wedge gate valve.

304 Stainless steel fasteners used throughout.
Key Points

This hot tap was performed with no disruption of service to the hot tapped pipe.

The coupon - seen on the right - is 27" in diameter!

The valve weighed approximately 2.4 tonnes.
